In Memory of old Friends
Sad news from Darnella DeLisse the loss of TA Freedom her PB Arabian gelding passed away in December, she said he went peacefully and found him in the morning out in the pasture, he was in his early twenties. Freedom was the favorite mount of Rachel DeLisse, she and Freedom participated in all our Star events, trailrides, beach rides and shows. Showing at open and rated shows he and Rachel were part of the "Beeville" group of girls who showed together all during high school. I know he will be sorely missed, but leaves behind so many wonderful memories. Then after this loss came the news that Fin Akiva formerly owned by the DeLisse family had to be euthanized due to a brain tumor, this exceptional Arabian gelding ridden by Renee DeLisse won Youth National awards in dressage and numerous regional awards . I received an email this week from Ginny Nokes in Seguin saying that Zorro Ole her Arabian gelding passed away last weekend due to complications from colic. He was 23 years old and according to Ginny and never had any health issues. Ole was a character, a flashy chestnut with flaxen mane and tail and and lots of chrome. This gelding was given to Ginny and became a great show horse and lesson mount, teaching many young girls to ride and show. Rachel & Renee DeLisse and Christine Cherry all showed him at different shows during high school he was a favorite of anyone who rode him. Ginny would always say he was such a kid and sulked if he didn't get to go to the shows. Lots of memories, as we all know as horse owners, these wonderful animals touch our hearts, and its hard to see them pass.
